Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez is originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Her siblings include two brothers and an older sister. Due to unrest in Lanka, her parents were forced to relocate to Bahrain during the 1980s. Following her education in Bahrain and after that, she received the Scholarship to pursue a degree at the University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's master's degree with a major in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. An avid lover of different cultures as well as languages, she attended Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish and honed her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. The TV show she appeared on was founded after winning the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone is the child of of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore, but she is a native of Copenhagen. In her teens, she competed at national-level badminton competitions, but quit the sport to become an artist. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her mother tongue is Konkani. Her family tree is rooted in Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an internationally renowned badminton athlete, while her mother also works as a travel advisor.
